Tourism Australia is an Australian Government statutory authority established to promote Australia as both an international and domestic holiday destination. It markets Australia to consumers and the travel trade (wholesalers, travel agents) around the world. Tourism Australia plays a role in product development and in retail travel agent education programs as well as giving input into government and industry policies that affect tourism.

State and Territory Tourism Organisations
STOs are state and territory tourism offices within the portfolio of a minister for tourism. The role of the STOs is primarily in product development and marketing, domestically and internationally.
ATEC is recognised as the voice of the tourism export industry by industry stakeholders, government and the media. ATEC provides commentary on a range of industry issues from the economic impact of tourism exports, international arrivals figures, industry research and forecasts, government policy and industry business development initiatives.
The national program that caters to accommodation providers, tour operators, attractions, visitor information centres, wineries, restaurants, transport operators, retail outlets, bookings services and tourism Associations. ATAP establishes industry standards for operating a tourism business and provides a framework for the continuous improvement of the business.
Star Ratings Australia is the national rating program of Australia's Auto Clubs (RACV, NRMA, RAA, RACQ, RAC, RACT, AANT). For accommodation properties to be STAR Rated they must meet minimum requirements, particularly concerning standards of cleanliness. STARS one to five are certified based on over 300 Standards that cover Facilities and Services, Cleanliness, Quality and Condition. The points are awarded by an Assessor who will determine a property's STAR Rating, however, each property must also meet specific Miniumum Requirements on key guest expectations. The role of NTA is to provide the tourism industry’s voice to government at the Federal level. Its members constitute the state tourism industry councils, national industry associations and other key tourism business and organisations in Australia.
A bi-national Government agency with the responsibility to develop and administer the ‘Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code’ (the Code), which lists requirements for foods such as additives, food safety, labelling and GM foods. Enforcing and Interpreting the Code is the responsibility of State/Territory Health Departments within Australia and New Zealand.
