Information and Networking Industry Day 13 March 2012

Members: General News: 27/2/2012

Please take the time to read and consider this education and networking opportunity.

In recent years Hosted Accommodation Australia (formerly BBFAA) has held an annual Industry Information Day in South Australia. These have been great learning days for both HAA members and non-members.

To further serve its members, this year your Regional Representatives are organizing regional get-togethers for members with a state committee member present. The current Regional Reps are Sharyn Rogers, Kirsten Gazzard and myself, Peter Manuel.

Meetings this year will occur in each of these regions: Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu, and you are invited to express your needs to the regional representatives. These days will mix social activities with new learning opportunities and will also be your opportunity to network and feed information to your state committee. You are invited to attend as many of these events as you can. You are also encouraged to invite any non-HAA members to attend with you, who you know would benefit from networking with fellow HAA members and could be interested in becoming a member.

To date there are already two Information and Networking days planned for 2012. The first is just a few weeks away, starting at Links Lady Bay restaurant on the Fleurieu Peninsula and finishing with a famil visit and cruise with Kangaroo Island Sailing – the latest Fleurieu tourism venture. Aon have agreed to work with HAA and provide sponsorship to reduce the cost to HAA members. See below for details and to Register.

HAA members from around SA, Victor Harbor Visitor Information Centre staff/volunteers and other non-member hosted accommodation providers will meet at 11.30 at the Links Lady Bay Resort Restaurant, St Andrews Boulevard, Normanville.

At 11.45am Renee and Ashley Newman of Kangaroo Island Sailing will outline their new yachting attraction and specifically how B&Bs can earn $ by making bookings for their guests for a Fleurieu sailing venture. The Links Lady Bay Restaurant staff will discuss tourism opportunities Lady Bay offers.

At 12 noon we will share a light lunch together – the subsidized cost to HAA members is $15.00 a head and includes a variety of cold and hot fresh baguettes, gourmet pizzas and a mixture of salads.

At 12.45, the VIC people will leave for a sailing experience. The rest will remain for a session where Ciarán Cryan (Chairman of Hosted Accommodation Australia Ltd) will talk about the new HAA consumer website and the rebranded corporate website, member benefits and updates on national initiatives.  Aon Representatives Suzanna Kilibarda and Samantha Monks will then run a question and answer session on insurance.

At 1.45 approx we will head for Wirrina Cove and do a ‘famil’ of the Lady Eugenie. See

“Kangaroo Island Sailing brings the glamour of celebrity lifestyle to the grandeur of South Australia’s coastline. It’s the epitome of the good life presented as laid-back luxury in an atmosphere of classic and contemporary elegance. Escape the ordinary under sail.”

For those who would like a sailing experience on a luxury yacht, then we have arranged one hour cruises 10 people at a time – cost $45 each only (and not the usual $99)

Your costs for the day:
• $15 for the meal ($25 non members) and
• $45 for the optional cruise (in total members $60 pp – non members $70 pp).

Both HAA Members and non-members must register for the day by using the secure link before 2nd March 2012.

I look forward to sharing this exciting day with as many of you as possible. It will be great to meet some new faces too!

Peter Manuel
Regional Representative
